My short stint at Hyderabad

I was in Hyderabad for some project related training with 3 other colleagues a while ago. And since it was a short term transfer, we were given accommodation in the Guest house (which, BTW, is considered the bestestest amongst all the DCs. The campus it lovely, and a walk after dinner gets rid of all the stress. :)

There was this one particular street light on the corner which was … well, ‘haunted’ coz every time we approached, it would light up, and go off again when we were out of um.. coverage area…. Now, we were rather skeptical about this theory when we noticed it. So, much to the annoyance of the guard at the guest house, we tested it thoroughly and regressively and concluded that the ghost had a soft spot specially for Aditi coz it seemed quite content in the darkness when anyone else dared to venture near it.

Now, in spite of the fact that Hyderabad DC offers food more ‘palatable’ than the infamous Mysore food court, we were soon tired of having to eat egg curry every night. So one day, we decided to make soup. So, in the guys’ room, AC full on, big windows overlooking the whole campus Ajar, we made the soup on an electric heater. Let me warn you, the makers of this ready to eat ‘Thai lemony soup’ used a rather lot of salt in the process and not much of anything else. But since it had rained that eve, we drank the hot semi-liquid with relish… and decided never to try that stunt agiain.

We had planned to visit a lot of places in the city, but because of time and heat constraints, we managed just a few… One weekend, we (that is Aditi, Uday and I) went to ‘snow world’. It’s basically a really really huge, freezer. They gave us jackets, gum boots, and gloves. And in spite of those, we were frozen to the bone within 10 minutes. There was snow, snow fall, snow slide (complete with ‘toboggans’) and also hot tomato soup inside.

Surprisingly, we had a lot of work, and it kept us rather busy and yet there was enough free time to get bored. As I needed to keep my mind off a few things, I watched lots of TV, finished reading ‘Lord of the Rings’ (which, by the way, is one of the best books ever)! I analysed 2 peoples’ handwriting, and even made a sketch of Aditi :D:D:D:D


To round it up: 3 Star hotel + zero traveling for work + yummy ‘melt in the mouth’ double-choco-chip cookies from the subway counter + free hot choco, plus flexi timings + intro to one cute guy + a treat at an expensive Chinese resto + a chatterbox roomie = lots of funn :D
