Monik’s wedding reception.

Friday, 7th September 2007:
My project was in a bucket, my SPM had just zaadoed me in a meeting for the larger part of an hour. I slipped out right after the meeting and ran for it… Oh! sweet freeeedom!! I had the whole weekend in front of me and no thought of work shall cross my mind.
The bus reached the pick up point an hour late. And actually left the city another hour later… meaning, Mridula was in that bus for 3 hours already before it left for Hyderabad. The semi-sleeper was more comfortable than the chairs in office…so we both slept like dead. :D

Saturday, 8th September 2007:

Morning brought us to Lakdikapul where we persuaded an auto driver (in Pune, these are called rickshawala) to take us to Safilguda, which turned out to be real far and complicated to find.
Auntie (Sr Mrs Suneja… that’s Monik’s mother :) ) welcomed us with chai and biscuits and a lot of catching up followed. We bored Bharati with out talks of our project and old jokes. … oh, BTW, his wife’s name is Bharati n she’s very cute. And we liked her instantly :D. The rest of our jhoond came from b’lore an hour later. We brunched (it was early lunch .. not late breakfast and included some serious stuffing of us poor hungry stomachs with yummy pakodas and wedding seets) and went out to get some sort of gift for the newlyweds. We found 3 of the rather good sort. A lampshade, a goldfish bowl... supriya said it's s'posed to bring good luck... :) and a painting. Coming back, we found a lot of guests and relatives having a late lunch and we joined in and inspite of being very full, managed to empty most of the table :D

The reception was Saturday evening. and we went fashionably late…. Like by an hour and half :D … It was a typical Punjabi function: Colourful, flashy, Chakchak, Layers of makeup, dance, lots of food, and drink. Met another good friend there after a long time so there was a lot of catching up. Took a lot of snaps and ate and danced till the DJ shooed us off the dance floor….

Sunday, 9th September 2007:

Next morning (after .. obviously… another heavy brunch and photo sessions), we bade goodbye to the wonderful family that had made us feel so at home; to auntie whose enthusiasm we admired so, and to Mamiji who is so young at heart, and we made them promise that they will come to visit us at Pune.

Oh, for the first time in my life, I bought a sari for myself and a skirt :D
Then went to the famous Hotel Paradise, to have biryani :D:D (The whole weekend, we did nothing but Eat, sleep, dance and laugh And eat and sleep :D ) Then to Charminar to the choodi bazaar, bargained, bought gifts, and chatted, and took no notice of the weather. ….. And when we were done, and back in the car ,….it rained. And we thought that the Hussainsagar lake was turned inside out over the city. Visiblity zero, we left all hopes of eating icecream ;)
Well, you would think that after all the stuffing, me n mridula would be happy to just wait for the bus... naaah, we had a huge platter of American chopsui... and then bade goodbye to the city. :)

Full,
Madhura.
