One day not very long ago, i said something which, given the moment, was a very original and straight from the heart sentiment, only to realise a moment later that it was in fact, NOT an original statement! It was from a movie, one of my favourites, one of the few that i have seen many times :) and then after a while, i did it again, another line from another movie, same characteristics!.. made me for a moment doubt the originality of my sentiments, but then, some things HAVE to be put in such awkward things as words to express.
Now i have never really been very crazy about the movies. I usually watch one only after reliable reviews and that too, if time permits. I believe that people who watch first-day-first-shows have either too much money, or too much time or both (of course, NOM to the readers... if any). And from those that i do like, it's usually the story or plot that i find appealing, not the acting, or whatever else's in a movie. But one thing I admit, whenever i watch one, i get completely engrossed in the story, and think about it for at least two days.
Another thing i have noticed is that when i watch movies, i actually remember the characters(with their names), and not the actors. What i have found strange, is that if there's ever a movie screened on Television, only a small part of which i have seen before, I can make out which movie it is in 2 seconds flat, just by the characters, or situation, or whatever, even though i have not actually watched the whole film!! This recognition is generally followed by a comment from my parents "you watch too many movies!! why dont you go n do something worthwhile with your time!". I guess i should.
I also read too many books.. (not as many as might like, tho) and i DO get engrossed in those stories too! So much that i have read one big fat book three times, fell totally in love with one character, and for a long 2 years tried my best to be like another ... until i realised i'm too nice to be like her and am born in the wrong century.
So does the fact that i actually recited 2 lines from the big screen, make me a freak? Am i so obsessed with the stories or the characters that i actually use their dialogues in real life? Or do i have some kind of un-originality disorder? or am i so maniacally romantic (by the way, THAT i AM) that i consider the stories to be possible-in-real-life? or am i just a plain old copy cat? Perhaps i should run a line by line google search of this post and check the number of hits.
Copy cat or not, I still find reciting dialogues from Andaaz apna apna in daily life quite silly. :P:P
